Transpersonal Thanksgiving

It’s early, and I write from my favorite morning chair. I overlook Lake Michigan, which is as big as a sea, and a large beach and park, with the Chicago skyline ten miles distant. The last vestiges of gold think about wriggling to the ground, but hesitate, unsure, winds too gentle to coax them further. I am immensely grateful for this view; it’s almost meditative, and this short doodle on transpersonal gratitude is flowing…

Pluto Disruption Scenario: the End of the Web

Scores of dystopian films depict humans in white rooms with basic fixtures and an interactive wall-mounted monitor for information and communication. It doesn’t take much imagination to think that the metaphor is a jail cell created by minimalist designers. Several things are apparent: isolation and dependence on one source of information. Covert control is obvious, ever so gently. In this post, I’ll delve into how I imagine this is happening right now and what we can do to mitigate it.

Ego, Pluto, and Transpersonality

In A New Look at the Transpersonals, I explained how we may experience Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus very immediately in our everyday lives when they have close aspects to our personal hot buttons, one or more personal planets and angles. In these cases, we can learn to defuse some of the difficulties we may experience when we try to use transpersonal energy to attain earthly goals, in other words, to serve ego. When we use transpersonal energy to serve ego, even unknowingly, things may turn out unfortunately. In this post, I will share an example of how I think this is happening right before our eyes. Curious? Come along, and let’s discover how this transpersonal–personal connection works.

Reflections on Saturn

Saturn is a gold mine for increasing the meaning of our lives, but most of us don’t know how to unlock it. This post is the first of a series in which I’ll share some of the keys to unlocking Saturnian gold, and here I’ll focus on the earthly layer of existence. We all have this gold buried in the back yard of our unconscious. The ground here can be hard in spots, so make sure to bring your pickaxe as well as your shovel, so we can start digging.

Freedom and Responsibility

I have long observed that “freedom” is widely loved as a concept and state of experience, while “responsibility” is feared and avoided. I suspect that many of us are not aware of the intimate relationship between freedom and responsibility, so I am going on a wander to delve into it. Would you like to come with?

What Is Freedom?

I am free to release my resistance in an instant…

Shitting as a Spiritual Practice

Yes, you read that right. I invite you to join me in suspending social taboos around something that we do every day, something we’d rather not do and do only because we must. What if we could reframe shitting and experience it as a practice of gratitude? If we did this, we could enrich our lives in a very earthy yet quiet and spiritual way, a zen way. It may also improve our health.

Do you want to explore? Just check your preconceptions at the door; you can pick them up on your way out…

On the Transformational Power of Imaginary Conversations

Tonight, I was having an imaginary conversation with a close friend about feeling, about my journey from primarily experiencing my life mentally to incorporating feeling, a journey she is on, too. We are at different stages. I am thrashing about in the water much of the time now.

At the same time, I realized how revolutionary it was for me to be able to talk with “her” like this, so I’ll reflect on this and how revolutionary it is for my relationships.

This simple practice transforms relationships because it removes much of the burden that all close relationships bear.

On Aging and Stretching

As I wade further into my 60s this month, I am thinking about the miracle of our minds and energies, and the huge choices that we make without realizing their impact. I am thinking about the horrible consequences of listening to the Industrial Economy scripts that tell us how to age. Aging in the USA is akin to quicksand.

Here I’ll offer alternative choices. I don’t advocate or practice any of those “live young forever” lifestyles, but I have found things that work for me and that could help you and people you know to reject social ideas and to live considerably better without some big extreme dramatic effort. Curious? Let’s go!
