The only price of admission is curiosity with a twist of courage…
In this age of corona viruses, be they novel or just plain boring, modern healthcare piles on the drugs and immunizations, using science to thwart the bugs. Due to strong Uranian and Neptunian energies in my chart, I have been drawn to the unorthodox, and one of my biggest health hacks is the subject of our post today. This hack is free, always available, applicable to a wide range of maladies, and hidden in plain view. I invite you to join me back stage to delve into it, but to do so, you have to face a cultural taboo. I also touch on related lifestyle practices that seem to help my body to thrive despite its advancing age. Continue reading “The Powerful Medicine You Have Hidden Between Your Legs”→
Do you feel a deep sense that our world is in some kind of cosmic quicksand? That our whole way of life seems to be slipping away or sinking down out of sight? That our institutions seem too inept or self-involved to do anything about it?
Most citizens of the USA feel a pervasive, profound sense of confusion, frustration, and fear at a rare level. We have a deadly and mysterious virus that impacts people very differently. We have a politics that, regardless of one’s affiliation, is uniformly ugly and getting uglier. We have deepening economic calamity with no end in sight. Above all, we have uncertainty.
The United States of America is nearing its first Pluto return, and this post will reveal its effects on the country and its citizens. I will also assert that this Pluto return is a global phenomenon because it is simultaneously the Pluto return of the Industrial Economy as well, so all countries and peoples are affected. Here are some highlights:
How the USA’s 2020 general election has a much larger importance than its seems—and why who “wins” will have little significance.
Why President Trump serves as a catalyst for profound change in the USA.
Why many of these same dynamics will play out in all industrial economies, regardless of their politics.
How the consumerist economy’s glorification of material things will lose importance.
What is the spiritual meaning of the uncertainty, fear, and anger that many people feel.
Why Health “care” will (finally) change radically, involuntarily, into a less capitalistic system.
How we feed ourselves will become drastically slimmed down and more nourishing.
Why the power-obsessed political system and government structures will be transformed beyond recognition.
How we’re at a turning point: what happens will depend on how we take responsibility for ourselves individually and collectively.
Have you ever had an experience that you could have never predicted, but when you had it, it was so obvious that it was impossible to ignore? Today I will share one of my most surprising life hacks, one that is mind-blowing in simplicity but profound in its implications.
Since I wear Five Fingers everywhere, which includes conservative business settings, I constantly have people asking me about them. “Are they comfortable? I know someone who had a pair…” I have had hundreds of these conversations since 2011, and I find it virtually impossible to communicate how transformational walking (virtually) barefoot is. It’s an immense life hack that’s hidden in plain view, so I’ll try to correct that here.
I have mentioned a few times that living “paleo” is more a frame of mind for me than a mere lifestyle or certainly a way of eating. As I am usually grounded in the idea that I am temporarily incarnated in this body and life, and I sense that other lives are possible (I feel them quite strongly sometimes), I have a relatively timeless orientation to “life,” so it’s quite easy for me to imagine how a paleo man would do things in this un-paleo environment in which I am living right now. This sweet, sour, savory, creamy, crunchy salad will get your senses dancing and put a spring into your step!
Imagine… creamy avocado chunks, crunchy green cabbage, and sweet pineapple in a this jazz septet vinaigrette: ginger, basil, turmeric, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, honey, and evoo (extra virgin olive oil).
This Asian-inspired salad is also extremely healthy and even frugal (costs about 60¢ if you score avocados on sale as I often do, i.e. 49¢ a piece). In addition, it has no animal ingredients if that is important to you (I love meat, but I oft eat vegetarian).
Here in Paleoland, I usually avoid potatoes that are not of the sweet potato/yam variety as they have high starch and a toxin called saponin. Tortillas, as Spaniards make them, have potatoes, onions, and eggs as their main ingredients, so I often use green cabbage instead of potatoes, and it’s delicious while serving as well as potato as the bulk of the tortilla. I love cabbage for its texture, nutrition, frugality (it’s consistently top five in the Clean 15, so very few pesticides and you can buy conventional).
I was pedaling back from a meeting in the neighborhood today in heavy snow, the kind with luscious large fluffy flakes. It was really coming down, so I took residential streets and went slowly. However, about a mile from home, I happened on one of those famous Chicago road deformations—it was upon me before I knew it due to its white blanket camouflage—a large dip and curl in the pavement that was slick under the snow, and I went down on my left knee and ankle. There wasn’t a car in sight, so I got up, examined myself and found my knee sore but okay, my bike okay, so I pedaled home. Continue reading “Arnica, A Huge Healing Health Hack”→
