There will tend to be friction between career and home issues and relationship–work concerns, especially because Mercury and Mars are in Leo, conjunct Midheaven, which can inject Leo pride into people’s thinking and actions around career issues and ambitions.

In-Depth Overview

• New Moon in Cancer is extra special because Moon rules Cancer, so July New Moons are especially poignant. Look for people to be more emotional and family-oriented than usual. The New Moon (Moon conjunct Sun) sits in its 9th house, which is an unusual place for it: 9th house signifies activities to expand one’s abstract thinking and mind expansion about social, legal, philosophical, religious, and cultural issues. In Cancer, family will tend to seep in as well.
• This New Moon is dominated by a 3rd–9th house dynamic. The 9th is focused on abstract expansive thinking while the 3rd is about practical everyday thinking and the “here and now.” This will express in various ways, but tendencies will probably include family/home questioning or dreaming for the 9th house and seemingly practical, dogged, Saturnian/Capricornian thinking, which people may interpret as the fly in the ointment.
• New Moon is in loose conjunction to Moon’s North Node, the north intersection of the plane of the Moon’s orbit and Earth’s orbit. North Node signifies, broadly, people’s spiritual direction, and this will be generally oriented towards home, family, and other Cancerian issues. Their multiple conjunctions strengthen this month’s focus on the home, family, and nurturing.
• The Moon–Sun–North Node conjunction is in opposition to Saturn, which is almost exactly conjunct Moon’s South Node in the 3rd house. This opposition creates friction that will stress people’s Cancerian tendencies. Saturn rules Capricorn, so this strengthens its expression.
• An interesting aside is that, in general, Saturn indicates the father and Moon the mother. Both Saturn and Moon are in the signs they rule, so both express strongly, and this month will have conflicts between “father” and “mother” issues such as nurturing and staying close to home and making sacrifices for business, to get ahead in the external world.
• New Moon is square Chiron, which indicates unfair wounding and healing to one’s home, nurturing, or family. Chiron in Aries shows wounding and healing to the core self which, when wounded, has difficulty with nurturing or may nurture in compensation for what one didn’t get.
• Neptune in the 5th house bisects the Moon Node axis, trine (long blue line) North Node and sextile (short blue line) South Node and Saturn. As the 5th house signifies self-expression, Neptune energy can infuse self-expression with unusual imagination. Self-expression, which often comes through artistic activities, may involve career versus home/family.

Communication and Business

• Mercury and Mars are conjunct in Leo, so expect people’s thinking and actions, in general, to be infused with pride, the desire for recognition, and generosity. This tight conjunction sits on New Moon’s Midheaven (“MC”), the cusp of the 10th house, its most external expression.
• The 10th house cusp is in Cancer, so the house is ruled by Moon, which adds an element of emotionality and instinctiveness to people’s approach to their reputations, careers, and social positions. Coupled with Mercury–Mars leonine thinking and initiative, this could produce interesting results! Their conjunction sits just inside the 10th house cusp, which strengthens its expression as it creates a triple conjunction.
• Uranus in Taurus is square (solid short red lines) Mercury–Mars–Midheaven, which indicates friction between 7th house relationships and career/reputation, all the more because Uranus in Taurus is unusually (and unhappily) subdued and prone to surprises and disruptions in 7th house relationships, which are exclusive and serious (romance or business). These may affect career and reputation.
• Chiron in Aries is trine Mercury–Mars–Midheaven (long blue lines), which imbues people’s thoughts, communications, and initiatives about career with some combination of unfair wounding and healing. Given that the trine energy is harmonious, the dynamic of wounding is softened. Interestingly, Chiron sits in New Moon’s 6th house, work and deferred gratification, so that can indicate wounding/healing that involves employers, employees, or colleagues, which can have bearing on reputation and career.

Relationships

• Venus is one minute before walking into Cancer, but it’s in the 9th house, and this suggests that people will be interested in expanding their thinking about all things Venusian, and art will be a way they approach expansion will be through exclusive relationships and partnerships, romance, artistic things, and money. Venus will spend most of the month in Cancer, so it will express very intuitively and emotionally.
• Venus is also square Chiron, so wounding and healing around relationships, possibly related to colleagues, employers, and employees.

As I wrote above, New Moon in Cancer will be concerned with family, home, and nurturing, and the opposition to Saturn produces friction. Their dynamic will bleed over into career/reputation concerns. Chiron’s squares to New Moon and trines to 10th house Mercury–Mars injects wounding and healing into the mix.
• Overall, be patient with yourself, family members, and colleagues. The tensions created by planetary energies can serve as frustrations, provoking anger and upsets, or they can lead you to gain amazing insights into the issues that arise, and what’s more important than work and family? The key is to be flexible emotionally, a taller order than usual because everyone will be more emotional than usual.
• If you are normally a very logical person, you might find this month aggravating because even other logical people will be more emotional—and illogical—than usual. Realize that this dynamic will only be in effect for the month, so lean into it and see what you can discover.
